Position Description:
Two postdoc openings are available in the research group of Dr. M.-N. Frances Yap in the Department of Microbiology-Immunology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine to work on molecular aspects of Staphylococcus aureus ribosome function and RNA modifications. Research aims include but not limited to determining the impact of rRNA modifications on translation, monitoring translational noise at single-cell level and determining modifying enzyme-RNA interactions. The project will involve a multi-pronged approach spanning enzymology, bacterial genetics, next-generation sequencing, and structural studies.

Qualifications:Ph.D. in microbiology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, biophysics or a closely related field. No more than 3 years of postdoc experience. Previous training in RNA/ribosome biology, enzymology and structural biology is a plus. Candidates with structural biology or bioinformatics training who want to gain wet bench experience are welcome.
