Summary

The Head of Commercial is responsible for leading the commercialization efforts of our small startup biotech company. This includes developing and executing commercial strategies to successfully launch multiple enzyme products. He/she will develop and lead the marketing, sales and business development functions, create and execute plans for commercial readiness to launch new products several times a year, build and maintain relationships with distributors and key customers and be accountable for rapid-growth sales targets and customer support. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of commercial success in the RNA/DNA sequencing space, with experience selling enzymes and reagents into academic, commercial and biopharma labs and research facilities. He/she will have deep expertise and a successful track record of developing partnership strategies and completed in- and out-licensing agreements, collaborations, international distribution agreements and other value/revenue creating deals.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute commercial strategies to launch and grow multiple reverse transcriptase-based kits for RNA sequencing and RT-PCR applications
  • Develop partnership strategies, negotiate and execute licensing, collaboration, distribution and M&A deals.
  • Build and maintain relationships with distributors, partners and key customers
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify new opportunities
  • Develop and implement portfolio strategy, product positioning, marketing campaigns
  • Establish sales function, process and team (including CRM systems)
  • Develop and implement sales strategies. This includes identifying target markets, developing sales pitches, and creating sales materials.
  • Generate leads and qualify prospects. This includes identifying potential customers, qualifying their interest in the company's products, and nurturing leads until they are ready to buy
  • Track and analyze sales performance to identify opportunities to improve effectiveness and efficiency of sales model
  • Develop and execute customer support function to ensure successful product uptake  
  • Represent the company at industry and customer events

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field
  • 15+ years of experience in the commercialization of life science products
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, negotiate and execute large partnerships
  • Proven track record of success in the RNA/DNA sequencing space
  • Experience selling enzymes and reagents in labs and research facilities
  • Strong team-building skills and ability to influence multiple stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must be willing to travel at least 30% of the time
