The Neurogenetics, RNA-biology and therapies group at Biogipuzkoa Health research institute is looking for a postdoctoral candidate to join our research group. We are looking for a candidate with a background in in vitro disease modelling, genomics and transcriptomics.
The group, led by Lorea Blázquez (Ikerbasque Research Associate Professor) and Pablo Iruzubieta (Clinical neurologist), is focused on understanding the molecular basis of neurological diseases. In particular, this project will be focused on understanding the mechanistic insights of Repeat Expansion Disorders.
Applications are welcome from graduate students with a PhD degree in Biological Sciences or Biomedicine. The project involves:
- Long read genomics and transcriptomics with Oxford nanopore technologies
- iPSC-based disease modelling with 2D cell cultures and/or brain organoids
- Gene editing with CRISPR-Cas9

The lab is located within the Neurosciences area of Biogipuzkoa Health Research Institute (http://www.biodonostia.org/en/) in San Sebastian, Spain. Biogipuzkoa HRI is a national and international centre of reference in the field of health research, giving priority to promoting translational research. The institute is arranged in 7 subject areas and brings together around 350 researchers.
Requirements
- Applications are welcome from candidates with motivation to lead their research project. Independence and leadership will be positively evaluated.
- Good publication record (at least one publication as first author)
- Mobility: having research background in different groups and lab environments.
- Good communication and writing skills in English are required.

- Type of contract: 3-year Postdoctoral contract, extendable for up to 6 years.
