Sardona Therapeutics is a venture-backed biotech startup developing a new class of small molecule therapies that target RNA-binding proteins. Our founders and advisors are world-leaders in the field of RNA/protein biology and small molecule drug development – and are demonstrated company builders. We are using this knowledge and experience to translate extraordinary science into life-changing treatments for patients that need it most. Join us as we scale new peaks in cancer therapy!

This role is an opportunity to join San Francisco-based Sardona Therapeutics as one of the first employees, leveraging your expertise in biochemistry, biophysics and assay development, as well as passion to build and grow the company. We love people who are excited about what they do, have a demonstrated ability to stick with challenging problems for the long haul and thrive in high-energy teams.

Job Description:

-          Collaborate closely with colleagues across the entire organization to develop high quality lead molecules in the interface between RNA and protein biology.
-          Establish and execute biochemical/biophysical assays to elucidate compound efficacy and characterize protein/RNA complexes.
-          Participate in the execution of hit identification screens using diverse screening methodologies.
-          Maintain detailed records of experimental protocols and data in laboratory notebooks.
-          Present/summarize work verbally and in written form effectively.

Your Profile:

-          MS with 0-3 years or graduated PhD with research experience in biochemistry, biophysics, chemical biology, or related discipline. Experience in RNA/protein biology is a plus
-          Knowledge of recombinant expression in bacteria, insect, or mammalian cells.
-          Experience with purification of challenging recombinant proteins and characterization of protein complexes using chromatography methods (e.g. FPLC or AKTA system using affinity chromatography, SEC, IEX).
-          Understanding principals and practical applications of biophysical and biochemical methods for protein characterization (e.g. SPR, BLI, ITC, FRET Assays).
-          Skilled in establishing robust biochemical assays including plate-based detection technologies to interrogate enzyme kinetics, SAR elucidation and lead optimization strategies.
-          Confident in testing protein:RNA interactions using e.g. fluorescent gel-shift assays (EMSA), RNaseH protection assays or RNA-pulldown assays.
-          Proficiency in utilizing data and visualization software such as GraphPad Prism, Pymol, Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator for data analysis and presentation.
-          Excellent communication skills with ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
