Job Title: Postdoctoral Position to Uncover the Mechanics of Ribonucleoprotein (RNP) Assemblies

Requisition ID

Job Purpose

The Pillon Lab is seeking an enthusiastic postdoctoral research associate to tackle critical questions in RNA processing and decay. The lab's research program lies at the intersect of structural biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, and cell biology. The primary goal will be to elucidate the mechanism of gene regulation by characterizing multi-component machines responsible for dysregulated RNA processing and decay in disease. The candidate will use cutting edge technology, including cryo electron microscopy, to decipher the molecular cues orchestrating RNA editing pathways.

Job Duties

Under the general guidance of the Principle Investigator:

  • Develop and apply hybrid structural biology (e.g. electron microscopy, crystallography, crosslinking mass spectrometry) to define the structural organization of RNP complexes
  • Spearhead quantitative enzymatic and biochemical studies to measure the regulation of RNP assemblies
  • Student training and mentorship
  • Present research findings at institutional, regional, and/or national scientific meetings

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Structural biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, and/or cell biology.

Baylor College of Medicine is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action/Equal Access Employer.
