Research Technician

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic, scientifically curious research technician to work in the lab of Dr. Paulina Pawlica at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in NYC. The Pawlica lab studies the roles of non-coding RNAs in viral infections. We are using a combination of RNA biochemistry, bioinformatics and molecular virology to understand the RNA-centric virus-host interaction.

The ideal candidate is an organized, technically skilled individual who will be responsible for helping to manage the laboratory and preforming experiments (with a possibility to having hers/his own project). This would be an excellent role for a recent college graduate who desires to gain additional years of hands-on research experience before pursuing graduate school or medical school.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine molecular biology and cell culture techniques to assist other researches
  • Perform some independent research, based on capability
  • Help with lab organization and other support duties relating to lab operations, as required



  • A bachelor’s degree in biology or a related discipline is required


  • 1-2 years of previous hands-on laboratory experience is required
  • Previous hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques (cell culture, PCR, gel electrophoresis, etc.) is required
  • Previous experience with RNA biochemistry would be a plus

  • Proficient computer skills (PC and/or Mac, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.)

  • Ability to work efficiently, be adaptable, and be self-motivated
