Research Specialist (varying levels)

The Hwang Lab in the Department of Pathology at the University of Pittsburgh seeks full-time Research Specialists at varying levels.

Our current research focuses on the role of abnormal mRNA processing in human disease. We combine powerful in vivo high-throughput profiling methods and CRISPR technology with genetically modified mouse models of human disease to identify candidate mRNA isoforms that may contribute to disease pathogenesis in specific cell types in vivo. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

#Experimental Work:
-Mammalian cell culture and/or work with mice.
-Molecular cloning.
-Protein analysis.
-RNA analysis.
-Regular PCR and quantitative PCR.

#Laboratory maintenance:
-Maintain day-to-day operation of the laboratory, including preparing common laboratory reagents, ordering, filing inventories, tracking ongoing projects, equipment maintenance, organizing lab to comply with chemical, radiation and biohazard standards.

-Purchasing and ordering.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

-Education: Bachelor’s degree in biology or related field.
-Experience: 1~3 year experiences. Molecular biology skills are essential. Previous experience with mammalian cell culture and/or mouse experiments is preferred.
