Projects are part of a basic research program that focusses on understanding, improvising, and discovering enzymes for RNA synthesis platforms. Research will be undertaken in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will utilize a variety of techniques to identify new and improved enzymes for research, diagnostic, and therapeutic applications.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Carry out basic and applied research on enzymes for RNA synthesis.
  • Develop analytics for characterizing and studying in vitro synthesized RNA.
  • Characterize enzymes for RNA synthesis and modification.
  • Effectively communicate findings to the scientific community through publications and presentations.
  • Interact and collaborate with members of other research divisions to further program and division goals.

Required qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in RNA Biology, Biochemistry, or Molecular Biology with 0-3 years post-Ph.D. experience in a related field.
  • Proven track record in RNA biochemistry and biology, protein analyses, and standard molecular biology techniques.
  • Attention to detail with a demonstrated track record of producing high-quality work in the form of peer-reviewed publications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to generate and maintain detailed lab records and to make recommendations based on research outcomes.
  • A strong work ethic, with an emphasis on both efficiency and quality of work.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with analysis of large datasets and high-throughput sequencing.
  • Experience in structural analyses of RNA and/or in tools to optimize RNA structure and expression.
  • Familiarity with high-throughput experimental design and analyses will be a plus.
  • The ability to multi-task effectively while working independently, and/or to contribute to team goals while working in a fast-paced environment.
  • A commitment to research excellence, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and enthusiasm to learn and develop new techniques.
