Orna Therapeutics, Inc. is a Cambridge-based biotechnology startup on a mission to create therapies for diseases inaccessible to existing approaches. Built on novel circular RNA technology developed at MIT, Orna is leading the next wave of RNA therapeutics with our best-in-class expression and delivery platform. We are seeking an exceptional Research Associate/ Sr. Research Associate, Process R&D to join our team. The candidate will assist in design and execution of experiments to develop platform manufacturing capabilities and scale-up for Orna’s drug substance and drug product, from preclinical studies through proof-of-concept clinical studies. The ideal candidate will have experience performing process development activities for pharmaceutical technologies. Furthermore, they will possess strong oral and written communication capabilities, demonstrate excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills, and be adept at problem solving in a fast-paced environment.


  • Help develop Orna’s scale-up capability for GMP manufacturing of circular RNA and lipid nanoparticle formulations.
  • Execute large scale productions of high quality oRNA for in vitro and in vivo studies.
  • Assist in the evaluation of critical process parameters and scale-up strategies for nucleic acids and lipid nanoparticles.
  • Assist with process development experiments, analysis of data, and present findings; maintain lab notebook, inventory, and protocols.

  • BS + 0-3 years industry experience or equivalent in chemical engineering, biomedical engineering, chemistry, biology, or related field
  • Experience with nucleic acid, nanoparticle, large molecule or novel biomanufacturing technologies preferred.
  • Experience working in a matrixed CMC environment (supply chain, analytical development, and formulation development) a plus.
  • Nanoparticle or mRNA manufacturing experience is a plus.
  • Highly organized and can collaborate on execution of multiple parallel initiatives.
