Orna is a venture-backed, Cambridge-based startup creating a pipeline of RNA-based therapies based on technology developed at MIT. Our mission is to address diseases not accessible by existing approaches with our best-in-class proprietary RNA expression and delivery platform. We are seeking an exceptional researcher to join our team as a Research Associate to work with scientific investigators to evaluate candidate therapies for the treatment of cancer and rare genetic diseases. The ideal candidate is an immunologist or cell biologist with knowledge of flow cytometry.  The ideal candidate has at least a bachelor’s degree in a biology-related field with relevant in vitro and flow cytometry experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, equipment maintenance experience and/or tissue culture experience. They will be able to quickly learn the operation and maintenance of multiple flow cytometry instruments and follow sample processing protocols, possess strong oral and written communication capabilities, demonstrate excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills, and be adept at problem solving in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Support the day-to-day maintenance and operations of the flow cytometry laboratory and instrumentation, including daily instrument cleaning and maintenance, managing inventory, and maintaining clear communications with users.
• Provide user support on instruments and with sample preparation.
• Maintain an electronic notebook record of performed studies.
• Solve technical problems in a logical and rationale manner.
• Must be self-motivated, detail oriented, and able manage multiple parallel laboratory activities with highly effective time management.

Qualifications

• Passionate, adaptable scientist looking to make an impact in a biotech startup environment.
• BS in biology, immunology, or related discipline with 1-2 years of relevant laboratory experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
• Previous experience working in a flow cytometry laboratory preferred.
• Detail oriented and self-motivated, willingness to take on new challenges.
• Effective written and oral communication skills with experience working in cross-functional teams.
