The Lapinaite Lab at Arizona State University (USA) is recruiting a postdoctoral fellow with experience in cryogenic electron microscopy (cryoEM).The position is funded by NIH ($55,000 annual salary; multiple years of funding) and is immediately available. The successful applicant will undertake biochemical, structural, and functional studies of next generation CRISPR-based precision genome editing tools, such as novel base editors. The position will suit someone interested in single particle cryoEM, CRISPR biology and engineering novel genome editing tools.

Main responsibilities: project management, meeting coordination and leadership, research design and implementation, data analysis, report/manuscript preparation, training and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students, identifying, coordinating, and leading the writing of research proposals and seeking future funding, efficient communication with outside collaborators, and coordinating among team members.


  • Minimum Qualifications:
    • Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Structural Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Biotechnology or a closely related discipline
    • Hands-on experience with cryoEM and/or x-ray crystallography of biomolecules (data processing and management, model building)
    • Proficient in biomolecular structure analysis and visualization
    • Experience in protein expression and purification
    • Non-US citizens should be eligible for a J-1 Scholar visa for the duration of the fellowship
  • Desired Qualifications:
    • Interest in CRISPR biology, genome engineering, RNA biology
    • Prior work with nucleic acid-protein complexes
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Experience mentoring graduate and undergraduate students
    • Experience in project management and team leadership
