JUNIOR RESEARCH GROUP LEADER - RNA BIOLOGY

Posted on December 15,

The Institute for Molecular Infection Biology (IMIB) at the University of Würzburg seeks to recruit a new group leader. We are interested in researchers in the early phase of their career who have already earned recognition in RNA biology. Candidates with projects in the area of RNA networks and RNA-protein interactions with relevance to infection biology are preferred, but all outstanding scientists with a background in microbiology, immunology, cancer biology and molecular biology are encouraged to apply. We will assume an interest in applying single-cell RNA-seq and spatial transcriptomics approaches. The position includes laboratory operating expenses and additional salaries to build an independent research group. We also plan to offer an affiliation with the local Helmholtz Institute for RNA-based Infection Research. Laboratory space will be provided in a state-of-the-art research building with bio-containment, molecular imaging, high-throughput genomics, and animal facilities. The building is specifically designed to foster collaborative research and houses several additional young investigator groups as well as laboratories run by faculty members. See www.imib-wuerzburg.de and www.helmholtz-hiri.de for more information.

The position can be filled in full- or part-time as soon as possible and will be initially limited to 5 years. Salary will be based on the pay scale for the public sector in Germany (TV-L) and depends on training and experience. The University aims to increase the proportion of female employees, therefore applications from qualified women are particularly welcome. Preference will be given to handicapped persons in case of otherwise equal aptitude.

Applicants are welcome to make informal inquiries about the post to the institute chair, Prof. Jörg Vogel ([email protected]).

Please send your application as a single PDF file including your CV, list of publication, a short description of research interests, future directions and at least two academic references  by January 19st, 2022 to  Monika Schraut  ([email protected]erzburg.de).
