Faculty Position Available, W3 Professorship of Molecular Immunology

The Faculty of Biology and Chemistry invites applications for the position of a W3 Professorship of Molecular Immunology as of October 1st, 2020.

Reference is made to § 61 Para. 7 Hessian Higher Education Act (HHG) and to conditions of employment based on § 62 HHG. Proficient knowledge of German is expected.

Requirements:

Candidates are expected to have a strong profile in molecular immunology. Successful, third-party funded research should primarily cover the topics of gene regulation, signal transduction pathways, molecular infection research and/or molecular biomedicine. The complementation of existing methods and expertise (e.g. Omics technologies, single cell analyses, genome editing, protein and/or nucleic acid modification) and a focus on innovative and immunologically relevant animal or cell culture systems is also desirable. A high level of competence in these research fields should be reflected by international, high-profile publications.

Responsibilities:

Your responsibilities will focus on the above-mentioned subjects. Teaching duties will cover all bachelor and master courses (partly in English). Active participation in establishing new teaching courses is required. The candidate will be expected to cooperate with related bioscience disciplines of the Justus Liebig University Giessen (JLU) and neighbouring universities, to have experience in the acquisition of extra mural funding, to be integrated in high-profile national as well as international research networks and to participate in graduate education. Particular importance is attached to a commitment to promote the faculty’s internationalization strategy as well as to strengthen existing and to establish future research alliances.
