The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics at Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons invites outstanding candidates to apply for TENURE-TRACK faculty positions at the level of Assistant Professor. The department seeks individuals with exceptional accomplishments and abilities in Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics. Areas of particular interest are RNA Biology, Chromosome Structure and Function, and Computational Structural Biology, but exceptional candidates in other areas are strongly encouraged to apply. Examples of such areas include, but are not limited to: single molecule studies and live imaging; phase transitions and granules; and biophysical studies of cellular phenomena. We seek colleagues committed to scientific excellence, collaboration, and collegiality.
Applicants should provide a summary of their scientific accomplishments and a description of their scientific vision, emphasizing one or more major unsolved problems in their field and how they plan to solve them (no more than three pages).
The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics offers a rigorous and stimulating environment for conducting research. Faculty use the full spectrum of contemporary biophysical, biochemical, molecular biological, and cellular techniques to study developmental biology; gene expression, regulation and signal transduction; macromolecular structure, function and dynamics; and molecular neurobiology. The Department has a rich history of excellence in molecular and structural biology and molecular neuroscience. Cross-appointment with other departments or centers is also possible.
All applicants must have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree. In addition, applicants must have a very strong record of research productivity and demonstrated ability to develop a rigorous research program.
Completed applications, including the research statement, curriculum vitae, PDF copies or links for three reprints (which may be uploaded as a single PDF file), and contact information for three references must be submitted online via the following website:
Consideration of completed applications will begin in November, 2018 and continue until the positions are filled.
