The Medical University of Innsbruck invites applicants for the position of a FULL PROFESSOR FOR RNA BIOLOGY AND GENOMICS at the Department of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Pathophysiology

We advertise the position of a Full Professor of RNA Biology and Genomics, starting in October 2024.
The position will reinforce the University‘s scientific focus on genetics, epigenetics and genomics, ensure its continuous visibility on a global scale and is foreseen to strengthen translational research within the Medical University of Innsbruck.
It will be embedded in the Institute of Genomics and RNomics within the Department of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Pathophysiology (Biocenter Innsbruck), which offers a broad research and infrastructure spectrum. The holder of the position is expected to represent the field of RNA Biology and Genomics in teaching and research. We are looking for an internationally renowned candidate with a strong expertise in the field of RNA Biology.
We offer a fulltime appointment, initially limited to a period of 5 years; employment on a permanent basis will be possible after positive evaluation.
Employment requirements:
• MD or PhD with a doctorate relevant to the subject or a comparable tertiary level education corresponding to the profile of the position
• strong publication record
• expertise in state of the art techniques for innovative research on RNA functions and RNA processing in healthy as well as
disease-relevant model systems
• representation of the area in all academic programs of the University
• teaching experience and commitment to engage in the academic development of the curricula
• proof of successful and constant acquisition of competitive third-party funding
• leadership experience in interdisciplinary research cooperations
• leadership and management experience
• excellent inter- and multidisciplinary research to strengthen the University‘s scientific focus on Genetics – Epigenetics – Genomics
• management and motivational skills in the field of human resources
• commitment to develop personal management skills
