TREnD2019 is a trainee organized and and trainee-focused one-day symposium that brings together diverse RNA researchers at every level to share their newest findings in RNA biology. Now in its fourth year, TREnD provides an inspiring and lively day of networking and RNA-related discussion across multiple model systems.

The conference is held at the Peter Gilgan Centre for Research and Learning (PGCRL, Sick Kids Hospital) 686 Bay Street, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Aside from an outstanding keynote address by Dr. Tracy Johnson (UCLA and HHMI), the day includes oral and poster presentations delivered by solely by trainees. From the submitted abstracts, 12 trainees will be selected as speakers, and another 7 will be given the opportunity to present poster pitches. A trainee lunch and learn discussion driven by Dr. Johnson and focused on why diversity in science matters is a highlight of TREnD2019.

This year TREnD is excited to host the inaugural RNArt contest. RNArt is an RNA biology-focused art contest open to everyone who registers for TREnD. The winning entry will be displayed on the walls of the MaRS Centre Research Tower where TREnD is headquartered. This contest is sponsored by BioRender.

TREnD is financed by scientific societies, biotechnology companies, the Hospital for Sick Children and the University of Toronto. These generous contributions help keep TREnD registration fees as low as possible.
